June was nothing short of magical for whale watching in Dalvík. Our passionate crew set out on 139 whale watching tours throughout the month, and we had sightings of humpback whales on 138 of them. That’s an incredible 99.3% success rate! While one tour was unusually unlucky, the rest delivered breathtaking experiences for our guests. Spirits remained high all month long as we explored the rich marine life around the stunning island of Hrísey.
Throughout June, we were fortunate to encounter a wide variety of marine life:
Humpback Whales – spotted on 138 of 139 tours!
Minke Whales – frequent and curious visitors
White-Beaked Dolphins – energetic and social groups
Harbor Porpoises – quick and shy swimmers
Long-Finned Pilot Whales – a rare and exciting surprise
Seals – lounging on rocks and playfully swimming
Puffins & Seabirds – the skies and cliffs were alive with birdlife
These encounters brought smiles, awe, and unforgettable memories to our guests from around the world.
All tours departed from Dalvík, a hidden gem in North Iceland. With its deep fjords and abundant marine ecosystem, Dalvík continues to prove why it's a world-class whale watching destination. Our tours often took us around the picturesque island of Hrísey, where the scenery is as stunning as the sea life.
